Clashes erupted between ultras of Puteolana and Portici after the Girone A match of the Eccellenza league. A 34‑year‑old fan of the visiting side was struck on the head, reportedly by a baton or baseball bat, by a group of local supporters. He was taken to the Santa Maria delle Grazie hospital in Pozzuoli in a red‑code transfer. The assault occurred as the fan was leaving the stadium near the entrances to the Tangenziale. According to the mayors of Pozzuoli and Portici, the attack was an ambush carried out by a group of people. The victim underwent a delicate head operation overnight and is now in a pharmacological coma. His condition is being closely monitored, and the prognosis remains confidential. “Mario is fighting between life and death. Yesterday he underwent a delicate emergency operation, but the prognosis is still reserved,” said Pozzuoli Mayor Luigi Manzoni. Portici Mayor Claudio Teodonno echoed the statement. The two mayors, along with Pozzuoli Sports Commissioner Gennaro Andreozzi, visited the patient at the hospital today. Police are investigating the incident. Video‑surveillance footage is being examined to reconstruct the events and identify the perpetrators. At present, the police focus on about ten individuals who may have participated in the brawl and could have been involved in the assault on the 34‑year‑old fan. The match, played at Stadio Domenico Conte in Arco Felice, ended with a 2‑0 victory for the host team. Naples Prefect Michele di Bari issued a strong condemnation of the violence that took place during the Puteolana‑Portici encounter. He expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with the young man and his family, stating that “every form of violence is entirely incompatible with the values of sport and the principles of legality and civil coexistence.” Di Bari emphasized that sporting passion should foster aggregation, mutual respect, and shared enjoyment within the framework of rules and human dignity. He thanked the police forces and medical staff for their efforts.
