Rising global energy prices are set to positively impact Trinidad and Tobago’s revenue, according to Energy Minister Roodal Moonilal. The escalation of tensions in the Middle East has led to a surge in oil prices, which in turn has boosted the country’s revenue position by an additional US$4 million per month. This is in addition to an earlier projected increase of around US$10 million. While this spike in oil prices due to geopolitical instability may lead to short-term gains, it also introduces volatility into international energy markets. Despite the potential fluctuations, the increase underscores the significant impact of global geopolitical events on Trinidad and Tobago’s energy sector and overall national revenue.
