The Riot Squad was called to action in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, as a demonstration demanding justice for Joshua Samaroo and Kaia Sealy, victims of a police-involved shooting, took place at Woodford Square. The protest, attended by citizens, activists and relatives of the deceased, was generally peaceful, but had moments of high tension leading to the deployment of the Riot Squad. Protesters expressed their frustration over perceived lack of accountability in police-involved killings, demanding transparency and an independent investigation. While the protest ended without any arrests or injuries, it has rekindled public debate on the use of force by police and the need for effective oversight mechanisms in Trinidad and Tobago.
