Paraguay – The Minister of Interior, Enrique Riera, resigned on Thursday, according to a decree published by local media. Riera’s resignation comes amid a banking crisis that has prompted a dismissal trial against President Santiago Peña. Peña is set to face an impeachment proceeding in the Senate over the collapse of Ueno Bank, Paraguay’s largest digital bank and one of the country’s biggest financial institutions. The failure of the bank left nearly three million depositors without access to their funds, representing almost half of Paraguay’s population.
