A sudden downpour at Queen’s Park Savannah ended the National Carnival King semi-final prematurely. The Trinidad and Tobago Carnival Bands Association interrupted the competition for safety reasons, as rain started to fall with only a quarter of the contenders having performed. To ensure the safety of participants and protect the integrity of their costumes, the remaining semi-finalists will now progress to the final round at the Dimanche Gras show on Sunday. This follows the completion of the Junior Carnival King and Queen competition, where reigning Junior Carnival King Antonio Rampersad successfully defended his title for the third time, sharing the honor with newcomer Jarel Peters.
