Queer Wave, Cyprus’s LGBTQIA+ film festival, opened its doors in Nicosia tonight for its seventh edition. The festival will run until 27 September, offering a diverse slate of programming for local audiences.
Organisers announced that the event will feature more than 20 screenings, four workshops, and over 50 Cyprus premieres at the National Institute of Media and Culture (NiMAC). The programme includes short films, mid-length works, and feature-length titles across documentary, animation, essay film, and historical categories.
In addition to the screenings, the festival will host workshops aimed at fostering dialogue and creative collaboration within the LGBTQIA+ community. The event is positioned as a key cultural gathering for the island’s film and queer communities.
Queer Wave’s seventh edition marks a continued effort to showcase diverse voices and stories, with the NiMAC venue serving as the central hub for the festival’s activities in Nicosia.
