Queen Victoria Excluded from Calypso Fiesta Over Racist Song

Victoria Cooper Rahim, also known as Queen Victoria, won’t be participating in the upcoming Calypso Fiesta. The Trinbago Unified Calypsonians’ Organisation (TUCO) has ruled her song, “Africans for Sale”, as racist and against their performance standards. The decision has eliminated her from the Calypso Fiesta lineup. Debate around her song has been prevalent within the calypso community. It’s still unclear whether Queen Victoria will contest the decision or offer a different song. Calypso Fiesta is a significant event in the national calypso calendar, where performers compete for recognition during the Carnival season.
