Quand le leadership féminin se structure pour une gouvernance locale inclusive

Burundian Women’s Leadership Pushes for Inclusive Local Governance

A conference on women’s political leadership and inclusive governance was recently held, where the non-governmental organization NIMD Burundi called for a shift from individual to collective action. The goal is to empower Burundian women to take on key roles in local governance.

During the conference, panelists and attendees expressed concerns over the self-censorship and self-discrimination that often prevent women from aspiring to leadership positions. According to participants, these barriers hinder women’s ability to assert themselves in the governance process.

The event highlighted the need for women to work together to overcome these challenges and promote inclusive governance at the local level. By doing so, Burundian women can increase their representation and participation in decision-making processes, ultimately contributing to more equitable and effective governance.
