Russian President, Vladimir Putin, has publicly criticized the alleged killing of Ali Khamenei in the aftermath of joint airstrikes by the U.S. and Israel. Putin referred to the act as a ‘cynical violation’ of both morality and international law. He further decried the incident as unlawful and unacceptable under global norms. In addition to expressing condolences to the Iranian leadership and people, Putin warned that such actions may destabilize the Middle East even more. He advocated for halting military escalation and promoting diplomatic engagement. Russia has described this strike as an infringement of state sovereignty, and the Kremlin has expressed worry that this could escalate into a wider regional conflict.
