A Pune-based businessman who was reported missing by his wife has been located after it was discovered he had been traveling with another woman. The man had initially told his wife he was departing for a business trip to Malaysia.
The situation began when the businessman and his female companion attempted to depart from Mumbai International Airport. Immigration officials stopped the woman after discovering she was attempting to use a passport that had previously been reported as lost. Following the intervention by authorities, the man abandoned his travel plans and accompanied the woman to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in south Mumbai.
According to officials from the Sahar police station, the man contacted his wife from a pay phone, claiming that authorities had confiscated his mobile device due to issues at the airport. After a second brief phone call the following day, the man ceased communication, prompting his wife to file a missing person report with the police.
Upon learning that a formal police report had been filed, the man appeared at the police station and admitted to the deception. Police officials stated they intend to file a C Summary closure report with the court, a classification used for cases initiated due to a mistake of fact.
