Public Urged to Respect Turtle Nesting Season

The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries issued a public reminder that the 2026 sea turtle nesting season in Trinidad and Tobago is from March 1 to August 31. Beachgoers during this period are urged to avoid activities that may disturb the turtles and their habitats. The public is advised against driving or bicycle riding on beaches, sandcastle building, sand mining, or using fires and bright lights along the shoreline as these can disorient the turtles and their hatchlings. The Ministry also encourages residents not to sit on turtles, reduce marine debris like plastics and fishing gear, and participate in coastal clean-up activities to help protect these endangered species and their nesting sites.
