Chaguanas Mayor Faaiq Mohammed has issued a public health advisory following the arrest of a potato vendor. The vendor, who was operating along Narsaloo Ramaya Road, was apprehended during a routine exercise by the Municipal Police. Upon questioning, the vendor admitted to sourcing his potatoes from the Claxton Bay Dump.
Mayor Mohammed has strongly advised anyone who may have purchased potatoes from this vendor to dispose of them immediately. The Mayor emphasized the importance of public safety and health, stating this incident should serve as a reminder of potential health risks associated with food sourced from unapproved locations.
The public is being urged to exercise caution and to prioritize purchasing food from approved vending areas. This incident is a serious reminder of the potential consequences of neglecting such precautionary measures. Mayor Mohammed’s advisory underscores the commitment of the local authorities to protecting the health and wellbeing of the community.
