Operations at the City Gate Bus Terminal were significantly disrupted as drivers from the Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC) protested against what they describe as a defective and deteriorating fleet. The drivers gathered at the Port of Spain PTSC Bus Depot, refusing to operate buses they claimed were frequently malfunctioning or unfit for service. This led to severe slowdowns in transportation services at City Gate, leaving many commuters stranded or facing extended delays. The drivers maintain that their protest is rooted in safety concerns, as they believe many assigned vehicles are not roadworthy. They are calling on the government and Transport Minister Eli Zakour to urgently address the issue by procuring new buses for the national transport system, warning of further protests if immediate action is not taken.
