PESHAWAR – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shaukat Yousafzai stated on Thursday that his party must independently navigate its political future, asserting that it cannot rely on external support to secure its position in the country’s political landscape. In an interview, Yousafzai addressed the current political climate, expressing skepticism regarding the sustainability of governor’s rule. He questioned the authority of those currently inaugurating development projects, alleging that there is a concerted effort to eliminate the PTI from the political arena. Yousafzai highlighted the challenges facing the party, noting that many of its leaders remain incarcerated while others are currently facing legal proceedings. Despite these obstacles, he emphasized that the PTI maintains a presence in Parliament and should continue to participate in parliamentary committee meetings. Reflecting on past political actions, Yousafzai referenced comments made by Rana Sanaullah regarding the necessity of evidence for political allegations. He claimed that the PTI’s provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was previously removed based on unsubstantiated allegations. Regarding potential political alliances, Yousafzai confirmed that the PTI had extended an invitation to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman to join their movement. He suggested that the current tensions between the government and the JUI-F are likely temporary. Additionally, Yousafzai described a recent meeting with incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan as a positive development, noting that the discussion focused on the various legal cases currently pending against party members.
