Protesta/ Rama fton sërish studentët në tryezën e dialogut, vendos ftesat para Kryeministrisë

Prime Minister Edi Rama has reiterated his invitation for dialogue with protesting students, continuing to place invitations labeled “dialogue” on a stone table in front of the Prime Minister’s Office. While Rama has stated he will not resign, he has expressed a willingness to negotiate with student protesters regarding the improvement of educational conditions. For over two weeks, groups of students and citizens have gathered in front of the Ministry of Education and the Prime Minister’s Office to demand the resignation of the Prime Minister. The initial days of the protests were marked by tensions, clashes between students and police, and damage to state buildings and private businesses. In connection with these events, hundreds of individuals have been escorted to police stations, and several have been arrested by court order. In response to the unrest, the government has introduced a package of six measures aimed at addressing the consequences of violent acts during protests. These measures include the compensation of damaged businesses and the imposition of financial liability on individuals who cause property damage. The proposed package also includes amendments to legislation regarding public gatherings and the Criminal Code. Under these proposals, fines of up to 500,000 lek could be imposed on individuals who remain in protests where violence occurs after police have issued warnings. The measures also outline penalties for those who fail to comply with police orders. Additional elements of the government’s proposal include the creation of an electronic registry for individuals referred or investigated for criminal offenses related to the state, public order, and security. The proposed changes further include restrictions on organizing gatherings near key institutions, measures against the incitement of violence on social media, and penalties for individuals who conceal their identity during violent protests.
