In a continued hunger strike, prisoners at Tetron Barracks and Staubles Bay in Chaguaramas entered their second day of protest. The inmates are demanding transfers back to the Maximum Security Prison in Mausica and the Eastern Correctional Rehabilitation Centre in Santa Rosa. The hunger strike is seen as a pressure tactic on prison and police officials. Anonymous sources revealed that the Maximum Security Prison is currently undergoing refurbishment to enhance security measures. However, no timeline for completion has been disclosed. Prison Commissioner Carlos Corraspe was unavailable for comment, while Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro upheld the detention standards of the two Chaguaramas facilities.
