Prison Search in Santa Rosa Leads to Arrest and Contraband Seizure

A significant prison search operation took place at the Eastern Correctional Rehabilitation Centre (E.C.R.C) in Santa Rosa on April 20, 2026. The operation, which spanned from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., was successfully executed by members of the National Drug Task Force (NDTF) San Raphael. The search aimed to thwart the introduction of prohibited items into the facility, ensuring the safety and security of the prison environment.

The operation was coordinated by a team of senior officials, including W/Snr Supt Maynard-Wilson and Supt McKenzie, under the leadership of Insp. Mascall and Ag/Sgt Foster. They were supported by ASP Lalchan and a dedicated group of prison officers. This collaborative effort highlights the commitment of law enforcement to maintain order within correctional institutions.

During the search, officers acted on intelligence from the Special Investigations Unit (S.I.U.), leading to the arrest of a 38-year-old male suspect found in possession of prohibited items. Authorities recovered and seized a total of 85 cigarettes and 2 cellphones, which are considered contraband within the prison.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing and are being supervised by WPC Pooran, as authorities continue to address the challenges of contraband in correctional facilities. This operation underscores the ongoing efforts to enhance prison security and uphold lawful conduct among inmates.
