Prison Officer In Court For Allegedly Helping Convicted Rapist Escape

A Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service officer has been dragged before the courts accused of aiding the escape of a convicted rapist and killer. Yusufu Yusufu, a ZPCS officer, appeared in court on charges of facilitating the escape of Cabangani Mike Mathe from Plumtree Prison. Court documents allege Yusufu provided Mathe with hacksaw blades, allowing him to cut his way to freedom. Mathe, who was serving time for rape and murder, remains at large. The case has sparked outrage and raised serious questions about internal security and corruption within the prison service. Authorities are now under pressure to recapture the dangerous fugitive and investigate how such a breach occurred.
