President Kangaloo Honours Former Police Inspector and Special Olympics Coach, Errol Alphege Grant

President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo, ORTT, has paid tribute to the late Mr. Errol Alphege Grant, a former Police Inspector, teacher, and horse-riding coach for the Special Olympics. The President extended her condolences, recognizing Mr. Grant’s substantial contributions to the community.

Mr. Grant became affiliated with the Special Olympics around 1996, through the Civilian Riding Programme. This initiative, an offshoot of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Mounted Branch, provided a platform for Mr. Grant’s dedicated service to children and adults with special needs.

In a 2016 interview, Mr. Grant shared his motivation for working with individuals with special needs. He loved witnessing growth in people and was driven by a deep distaste for disadvantage. His passion for seeing things flourish, combined with his commitment to helping those who faced challenges, underscored his work.

In 2017, Mr. Grant’s contributions were recognized when he was awarded the Hummingbird Medal (Silver) for Community Service. His legacy continues to inspire those in the community and beyond.
