**President Ilham Aliyev Reports Mine Casualties Since 2020**

Baku – President Ilham Aliyev told participants at the 4th International Mine Action Conference, themed “Humanitarian Demining for Urban Recovery: Setting Standards of Excellence for Safe Settlements,” that 437 Azerbaijani citizens have been affected by mine and explosive‑ordnance incidents since the end of the 2020 Patriotic War.

According to the president, the incidents have involved civilians, servicemen, deminers, journalists and individuals engaged in reconstruction work. The reported casualties include 73 deaths and 364 severe injuries.

Aliyev also noted that, since the onset of what he described as Armenia’s aggression against Azerbaijan, more than 3,500 Azerbaijani citizens have suffered from mines, encompassing children, women and other civilians.

The conference, which focuses on humanitarian demining and the safe redevelopment of urban areas, gathered experts and officials from the mine‑action community to discuss standards and best practices for post‑conflict recovery.
