An early-morning fire severely damaged an apartment building in Kachan Trace, Barataria, leading to the hospitalization of at least one tenant for medical evaluation. The tenant, who was nine months pregnant, woke up to smoke and flames, prompting an emergency response. Firefighting units from San Juan Fire Station were able to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby units. The building’s owner, Mohan Jogie, confirmed that the property was insured. Apart from the building, two vehicles, a Kia Rio and a Nissan Primera, parked on the premises were also destroyed, while a Nissan B15 sustained damage. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, with authorities advising residents to observe proper fire safety measures.
