In a twist of events, a marked police vehicle responding to an emergency collided with a private vehicle driven by a police officer. The incident unfolded at a major intersection in Port of Spain on the afternoon of Saturday, March 21st, 2026. Reports indicate that the collision occurred around 4:00 p.m. at the junction of Wrightson Road and South Quay.
The marked police vehicle, with sirens and lights activated, was travelling east along Wrightson Road on official duties. Simultaneously, the private vehicle driven by another officer entered the intersection from South Quay, leading to the unfortunate collision.
The force of the impact caused the police vehicle to spin out of control and crash into a nearby wall. It sustained significant damage. Two police officers, one from each vehicle, were injured in the incident. They were promptly transported to the Port of Spain General Hospital for treatment.
The circumstances surrounding the unusual crash remain under investigation. The inquiry is being spearheaded by Cpl Denoon of the Central Police in Port of Spain. Further details will be disclosed as the investigation progresses.
