Investigations are underway regarding alleged scams involving impersonation of officials from the Housing and Development Corporation (HDC). Reports have emerged of individuals being defrauded by men pretending to be HDC employees. In one incident, a woman was led to believe that she had been selected for an HDC housing unit and was convinced to pay a total of $17,000 to cover legal fees and a down payment. Another woman was instructed to deposit $12,000 at a bank after being contacted by a man claiming to be an HDC Coordinator. The public is being urged to exercise caution and verify information through official channels before making any payments.
