Police Constable Killed in Kelly Village Shooting; Suspect Allegedly Dies

A police constable attached to the Western Division was shot and killed during a violent incident along Hydraulic Trace, Kelly Village, Caroni, late Tuesday night.

The deceased officer has been identified as Police Constable Douglas, who was reportedly sitting inside a white Nissan Tiida when gunmen opened fire shortly after 11:20 p.m.

Initial reports indicate that multiple gunshots were heard in the area, prompting an emergency response.

According to unconfirmed reports, one of the suspects was allegedly shot accidentally by an accomplice during the incident. The injured man was reportedly transported to the Arima Hospital in a white Nissan Tiida believed to have been used in the shooting. It is further alleged that after dropping off the wounded suspect, the vehicle sped away from the hospital. Unconfirmed reports indicate that the suspect later died while receiving medical treatment.

Police have launched an extensive investigation into the fatal shooting and are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack, including the identities of those involved and the motive behind the incident.

Authorities have not yet released additional official details as investigations continue.
