Police Constable in Critical Condition After Attack Linked to Traffic Ticket

A police constable from the Rio Claro Municipal Police, PC Shazard Mohammed, is in critical condition after being assaulted by a group of men. This violent incident, which occurred on August 9, 2025, is believed to be connected to a traffic ticket Mohammed issued a year prior. In a twist of irony, the principal suspect, who had received that ticket, reported to the police station that he witnessed the attack on the officer. Following the assault, Mohammed was first treated at the Rio Claro Health Facility before being transferred to Sangre Grande Hospital and subsequently to Mt. Hope Hospital, where he remains under critical care. Investigations into the matter are currently ongoing, as authorities work to uncover more details surrounding the attack.
