Police Chase Ends in Fatal Shooting in St. Augustine

A fatal police-involved shooting occurred in St. Augustine on January 20, 2026, following a vehicular chase that started in Maloney. The chase involved a white Toyota Aqua, and ended with two men injured, one of whom was later pronounced dead at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex. The condition of the second man remains undisclosed. The investigation is currently being conducted by officers of the North Central Division, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Sunil Bharath. This incident is the third fatal police-involved shooting in the year and the third in the past four days, marking a concerning trend.
