The National Elections Commission (CNE) of Guinea-Bissau has announced changes to the number of parliamentary seats allocated to various regions under the country’s new electoral law.

According to a statement released by the CNE’s communication office, the Autonomous Sector of Bissau (SAB) will now be represented by 17 deputies, a reduction from the 20 seats it held under the previous legislation.

The new law also adjusts the representation for several other regions. The Oio, Bafatá, and Gabu regions, which previously held 14 seats each, will now each have nine deputies. The Cacheu region will see its representation reduced from 14 to seven seats, while the Biombo region will move from six to five deputies.

The CNE document also noted that the Tombali region, which previously held seven seats, is subject to the new allocation framework, though the full details of the remaining regional adjustments were not provided in the initial report.
