A leadership contest is brewing within the PNM Tobago council as Kelvon Morris officially declares his intention to run against former Tobago West MP, Shamfa Cudjoe. Morris, the former Minority Leader, announced his bid during a Facebook Live broadcast, demonstrating his readiness to take on the responsibility. His announcement came just a week after Cudjoe’s own declaration. Morris’ experience as the lone PNM assemblyman in the previous Tobago House of Assembly administration is said to have shaped his leadership qualities. This leadership race follows the PNM’s significant defeat in the last THA elections, its third consecutive loss. The current Tobago Council leader, Ancil Dennis, announced his resignation following the loss on January 12th, 2026.
