In response to the cancellation of official Independence Day festivities by the United National Congress (UNC) government, the People’s National Movement (PNM) has stepped in to host a grand celebration. The event, coined “The Love of Liberty”, is in honor of Trinidad and Tobago’s 63rd Independence Anniversary. Slated for August 30th, 2025, the celebration will be held at the City Hall Entrance, Port of Spain from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The PNM Political Leader, Honourable Penelope Beckles-Robinson, will deliver the feature address. Citizens are encouraged to attend with their families, dressing in national colors, to partake in cultural performances and a unity procession. Despite the UNC’s decision, the PNM believes that Independence Day deserves to be marked in a meaningful way and is ensuring the national spirit is kept alive with this initiative.
