PNM Chairman Marvin Gonzales has criticized former police officer and newly appointed Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander for his comments regarding crime and policing resources. Gonzales suggested that Alexander is struggling with his new responsibilities, indicating that he may have underestimated the challenges of his position. According to Gonzales, Alexander’s remarks imply that the agencies under his control lack the necessary resources to effectively combat crime, a claim Gonzales strongly disputes. He firmly stated, “I reject out of hand that what you (Alexander) have inherited is emptiness,” suggesting that there is already a foundation in place to address crime effectively.
