PNG’s Pangu Highway gets its maiden run as PM Marape takes the wheel

**Papua New Guinea’s Pangu Highway Opens for First Time**

A new road that has taken generations to build was officially opened today when Prime Minister James Marape drove the first convoy along the newly completed Pangu Highway. The route, which connects Port Moresby with Lae, is the first road to physically link the Southern Region with the Momase and Highlands regions.

More than 100 vehicles followed the Prime Minister out of Port Moresby, traveling the full length of the Transnational Highway. The highway will be renamed the Pangu Highway in honour of the political party that has overseen its construction.

The opening marks a significant milestone for Papua New Guinea’s infrastructure, providing a direct road link between the country’s southern and northern provinces and improving access for trade, travel and development.
