PM Wale Heads to US and Japan for High-Level Talks

Prime Minister Matthew Wale is set to depart this Sunday for official visits to Washington D.C. and Tokyo following invitations from the Governments of the United States and Japan. The trip underscores the Solomon Islands’ efforts to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties with two of the world’s largest economies.

During his stay in Washington, Prime Minister Wale is expected to hold a series of bilateral engagements, including meetings with the US State Department, the Development Finance Corporation, and the Millennium Challenge Corporation. These discussions aim to explore development financing and investment opportunities for the Solomon Islands.

Following the US leg, the Prime Minister will travel to Tokyo for talks with Japanese officials. Japan has been a key development partner for the Solomon Islands, and the visit is expected to reinforce cooperation in areas such as infrastructure, fisheries, and climate resilience.
