PM Mum on Venezuela–US Tensions, Says Govt Will Act “When

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar yesterday declined to comment in detail on rising geopolitical tensions involving Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, and the United States, stating that the Government will respond “when necessary.”

Speaking with reporters following the formal rededication ceremony of the Couva Children’s Hospital, Persad-Bissessar said she would not engage in speculation regarding the situation.

“I will not speculate. When that time comes, we’ll deal with it. You cross that bridge,” she said.

The Prime Minister added that she is often questioned on matters for which she has not yet received full background briefings, and noted that Government responses must be grounded in verified information and proper context.

Her remarks come amid growing public concern over the evolving diplomatic landscape in the region. Officials are expected to provide further updates as developments unfold.
