PM Modi to IIT Delhi Students: Stay Curious as World Changes Fast

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 57th convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi on Saturday, emphasizing the importance of staying curious and keeping up with the rapid pace of technological change.

According to Modi, the world is changing rapidly, and it is impossible to predict what the future holds. He urged the students to maintain their curiosity and desire to learn, stating, “Today the world is changing rapidly. No one can predict what will happen in 20-30 years. Keep your curiosity alive in life… keep the desire to learn alive. Those who learn, win.”

Modi also highlighted the importance of being prepared for new challenges and turning them into opportunities. He said that this is a key skill that students have learned during their time at IIT Delhi.

The Prime Minister noted that India is working towards becoming self-reliant in every sector, with new sectors emerging for the country’s youth. He also commented on the rapidly changing balance of power in the world, driven by the pace of technological advancements.

Modi specifically mentioned the semiconductor sector, where he said that despite initial doubts, India has begun production at its first semiconductor unit. He expressed confidence that Indian students and professionals will play a key role in the country’s technological advancements, stating, “I am confident that everything from chips to aircraft will be made here by your hands.”

The convocation ceremony saw over 3,000 students, including 587 PhD scholars, receive their degrees. Modi also congratulated the students and faculty on the launch of new initiatives related to Artificial Intelligence at IIT Delhi.
