Plateau MACBAN alleges killing of herder, 18 cows by ‘Berom militias’

The Plateau State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has accused gunmen it described as “Berom militias” of killing a herder and 18 cows in an attack in Nyarwai village, Fan District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to MACBAN, the incident occurred on a day when the herder was tending his livestock. The association claims that the attackers entered the village, shot the herder, and seized the 18 cows.

State Chairman of MACBAN Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo said the organization was “deeply shocked” by the attack and called for an immediate investigation. He also urged local authorities to take action against the perpetrators and to protect cattle owners in the region.

The incident has raised concerns about rising insecurity in the area, where clashes between herders and farmers have been reported in recent months. Local security officials have not yet released an official statement regarding the attack.
