RP.PL Launches Discounted Subscription and Highlights Controversial Beauty Pageant Question Poland’s online news portal RP.PL has announced a new subscription offer, reducing the price of access to its content from 39 zł to 9,90 zł. Subscribers will receive daily news, expert commentary, and in‑depth reports and essays in the portal’s “Plus” and “Minus” sections. In a separate editorial, RP.PL published the headline “Niezależny prokurator generalny to dziś bajka dla naiwnych” (“The independent prosecutor general is today a fairy tale for the naive”), a critique of the current state of Poland’s independent prosecutorial system. The portal also ran a feature on beauty pageants, noting that for decades contestants in various contests have been asked what one thing they would change in the world if they had unlimited power, or how they would use their popularity if they were crowned Miss. Typical responses have included calls for world peace and the elimination of hunger. Some observers have criticized these answers as naive, describing the contestants as “głupiutkie ślicznotki” (“silly pretty girls”). The author of the piece suggested that the participants may simply be trying to say what they believe the judges want to hear.
