**Guatemala – Police Detain Two Suspects in Fuel‑Tanker Theft**

Escuintla, Guatemala – The National Civil Police (PNC) announced the capture of two men suspected of stealing a fuel‑tanker loaded with approximately 4,000 gallons of gasoline. The arrests were made in the Escuintla department following an incident in which the driver, a pilot of the tanker, reported that he was threatened and forced to abandon the vehicle.

According to the driver’s testimony, a group of unidentified individuals approached the tanker, threatened him, and proceeded to take control of the vehicle. The driver was able to escape unharmed and later provided authorities with a description of the assailants. Based on his statements, police located and apprehended the two suspects.

The PNC has not released the names of the individuals detained, nor have they disclosed whether any additional persons are being investigated in connection with the theft. The agency confirmed that the seized fuel was recovered and that the investigation is ongoing.

Fuel theft has been a recurring problem in Guatemala, prompting heightened security measures for the transportation of petroleum products. Authorities have emphasized that any further incidents will be pursued aggressively to deter future crimes.

No injuries were reported, and the driver is cooperating with investigators. The case will be forwarded to the public prosecutor’s office for potential charges.
