NEW YORK, Sept. 20, 2026 – Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, a member of the Communist Party of China Central Committee’s Political Bureau, met with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in New York before the start of economic and trade consultations between the two countries.
The two delegations convened on Sunday morning for discussions on economic and trade issues, according to a report from Xinhua News Agency.
He Lifeng and Bessent shook hands prior to the meetings, signaling the beginning of the consultations.
