Peter C Lewis Recalls Running Away With One Dollar To Pursue Music

eter C Lewis has recalled running away from home with just one dollar as a young man determined to pursue opportunities in music despite his parents’ objections. Lewis explained on the Cory Shepherd podcast that he grew up in a deeply religious household, with his mother serving as a pastor and his father as a church treasurer. His interest in secular music, however, created tension at home. Lewis said he had already been secretly participating in music activities before his parents discovered him appearing on television with a group. After being told he would not be allowed to continue, Lewis said he eventually found a way to open the family gate and left home one Sunday morning with only one dollar. He travelled to Port of Spain to continue with the musical opportunity but later faced pressure from adults around him to return home and honestly explain to his parents what he wanted to do. Lewis said that conversation changed everything. According to him, his father asked only that he say what time he would be returning home, while his mother told him she did not approve of what he was doing but reminded him that he remained her son and would always have a home. Lewis said that moment effectively gave him permission to openly pursue secular music and became the real beginning of his professional musical journey. Pasted text
