Kia Corp. announced that global cumulative sales of the PV5, the company’s first purpose-built vehicle (PBV), have surpassed 50,000 units within 13 months of its market debut. According to data reported by Yonhap, total sales reached 53,530 units by the end of July 2026, with international markets accounting for approximately 60 percent of that figure.
The PV5, a mid-sized electric PBV, was launched in June 2025 as part of Kia’s strategic expansion into the commercial vehicle and customized mobility sectors. The company recorded 15,853 sales in the second half of 2025, followed by 37,677 units sold during the first seven months of 2026. These figures position the PV5 as Kia’s third best-selling electric vehicle for the January-to-July period, trailing the EV3 and EV5 models.
Building on the performance of the PV5, Kia recently showcased its second specialized PBV, the PV7, at the IAA Transportation 2026 exhibition in Germany. The PV7 is designed to accommodate up to 11 passengers and is scheduled for an official market launch next month. This addition is intended to further diversify Kia’s PBV lineup and strengthen the manufacturer’s presence in the global commercial vehicle market.
