Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance has officially issued Circular Number SE-8/PJ/2026, outlining guidelines for taxpayer compliance monitoring that includes the involvement of TNI’s Babinsa and Polri’s Bhabinkamtibmas. According to the new policy, the integration of territorial apparatus aims to optimise economic data collection and expand the national tax database through three main pillars: monitoring registered taxpayers, unregistered taxpayers, and territorial oversight. The controversy has reignited debates over the role of the military in civilian affairs and the potential for abuse of power in tax enforcement.
