On Sunday, July 27, 2025, at approximately 4:10 am, a shocking incident occurred in a park involving a 31-year-old man from Arima and a 36-year-old woman from Marabella. While sitting on a bench, the pair was approached by two suspects, a man and a woman, one of whom was armed with a firearm. The male suspect announced a robbery, leading to the male victim being stripped of his wallet, $700 in cash, a Scotia Bank card, a national ID card, and a driver’s permit. Meanwhile, the female victim was robbed of her black side bag, $102 in cash, an AnsaBank card, her national ID, and a cellphone valued at $900. In a desperate attempt to resist, a struggle ensued between the male victim and the armed female suspect. This confrontation resulted in the gun discharging, injuring both victims in their legs. Following the incident, the suspects fled the scene, leaving the victims behind. They were quickly transported to the San Fernando General Hospital for medical treatment, where they are currently receiving care.
