**CHITRAL** — Since gaining independence in 1947, Pakistan has frequently turned to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank, and other international lenders during periods of economic instability.

While external borrowing is a common practice globally, economic analysts note that the core issue in Pakistan has been the reliance on loans as a permanent measure rather than a temporary solution over the decades.
