Päiväkoti roihuaa Pieksämäellä

A fire broke out in a preschool building in Pieksämäki’s Nenonpello district. The alarm was triggered between 1:00 and 2:00 a.m. The blaze caused extensive damage to the structure, and the roof must be demolished entirely. The building is likely unusable, and the preschool will not be able to continue operations for an extended period. According to Joni Himberg of the South Savo Fire Department, a new building will probably be required. The approximately 200–300 square‑meter preschool was empty at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. There are no other buildings nearby, so the risk of the fire spreading was considered low. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Fire‑investigation work will begin once the extinguishing operations are finished and the structure has cooled.
