OPR Investigates LandmarkTT for Alleged Tender Irregularities in $100M Project

The Office of Procurement Regulation (OPR) has launched an investigation into LandmarkTT Properties Limited, a state enterprise, over allegations of bypassing standard procurement protocols for a substantial housing project valued at $100 million. The scrutiny relates to the Allamby Residential Development in Corinth, San Fernando, where allegations have surfaced that a selective tendering process was favored instead of the mandated open bidding system.

According to information from the OPR, the regulations stipulated under the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property Act were potentially contravened. This Act mandates an open and competitive bidding process for government contracts, unless specially exempted. A spokesperson from the OPR warned that should these allegations prove accurate, any contract not executed in compliance with these provisions might be declared void and illegal, posing significant legal and financial risks to the parties involved.

Despite the ongoing investigations, construction activities continue at the site. This has sparked public and political interest, with representatives like Opposition MP Camille Robinson-Regis questioning the rationale behind the continuation of work amid such serious allegations.
