The Special Victims Department (SVD) of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) launched a successful operation named ‘Beacon’ between the 26th of November and the 5th of December, 2025. This multi-divisional initiative led to the arrest of thirteen individuals and the resolution of ten police reports in accordance with Standing Order 28. The operation was extensive, covering various police divisions across Trinidad and Tobago, and was targeted at offences including sexual crimes, domestic violence, child cruelty, and related issues. Spearheaded by Deputy Commissioner Natasha George, Assistant Commissioner Smith, and Senior Superintendent Winston Maharaj, Operation ‘Beacon’ was coordinated by Superintendent Darryl Ramdass with assistance from W/ASP Avril Francis. The TTPS has confirmed that the operation was carried out without incidents and is a part of the ongoing efforts by the SVD to protect vulnerable individuals and ensure that offenders face justice.
