An off-duty soldier’s quick thinking averted a potential tragedy during an attempted robbery in Bamboo Boulevard #3. The incident occurred in the early hours of July 21, 2025, when the lance corporal, armed with his service pistol, noticed two men threatening a 41-year-old man from San Juan. The suspects were identified as 19-year-olds Jurell De Fraitas and Josiah Daly. According to police records, one of the suspects brandished a firearm and allegedly pointed it at the soldier. The soldier, in response, fired two rounds towards the suspect. Fleeing into a nearby drain, the armed suspect emerged moments later and was apprehended, then taken to the hospital for treatment of gunshot injuries. The second suspect was also detained at the scene. Both suspects are now in custody.
