North Vancouver voters head to the polls for 1 of 3 federal byelections

**North Vancouver Voters to Cast Ballots in Federal By‑Election**

*August 31, 2026 – North Vancouver, British Columbia*

Voters in the North Vancouver federal riding will head to the polls today to elect a new Member of Parliament. The by‑election is one of three scheduled across Canada to fill seats that have become vacant.

The North Vancouver seat has been empty since June, when former MP Jonathan Wilkinson was appointed Canada’s Ambassador to the European Union. The vacancy prompted the federal government to call a by‑election to ensure representation for the riding’s constituents.

Candidates from the major parties and independent contenders are campaigning for the position, and the election will determine who will represent North Vancouver in the House of Commons until the next general election.
