No Recent Increase in Bat-Related Rabies Cases Confirmed

On September 11, 2025, the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries in Chaguanas, Trinidad, confirmed that there has been no recent escalation in bat biting or rabies cases among animals in the region. The Ministry, together with the Animal Production and Health Division and the Anti-Rabies Unit, continuously monitors potential cases and implements necessary actions such as Post Exposure Prophylaxis for affected individuals, conducting investigations in affected areas, and carrying out control measures like trapping bats and carrying out vaccinations. The Ministry urges the public to report any unusual animal behavior, evidence of bat bites, or suspected rabies cases to the nearest County Veterinary Office, emphasizing the importance of early detection and public cooperation in preventing rabies outbreaks.
