No Missing Child Cases Reported During Carnival 2026

The Ministry of Social Development has reported that no official cases involving missing or separated children were recorded during the Carnival 2026 period.

Officials stated that child protection systems remained fully operational throughout the celebrations, with emergency response teams, hotline services, and inter-agency coordination in place to respond to any incidents.

The Children’s Authority maintained 24-hour hotline coverage and worked closely with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service to ensure rapid response capability. Despite the high volume of public activity during Carnival, no cases requiring intervention were reported to the ministry.

However, the matter sparked discussion in the Senate after references were made to reports from other sources suggesting that some children may have been separated from their guardians. This raised questions about reporting mechanisms and whether all incidents are being formally captured.

Authorities emphasized that while no cases were officially recorded, systems remain in place to respond immediately should such incidents occur in the future.
